Daytona International Speedway is the most prestigious race track on the NASCAR circuit.  Stock car racing traces much of its roots to Daytona Beach with stock car races taking place on the beach as early as 1936.

It is fitting that NASCAR's biggest race - the Daytona 500 - kicks off each racing season here in February.  The track, which hosted its first race in 1959, features high banks in the 2.5 mile oval.   The speedway has a current seating capacity of 147,000.
