The Harry S. Truman Library sits atop a hill with a view of Kansas City to the west.  It is here where the papers, books, and historical information related to the nation's 33rd president are displayed and archived.   Truman was president at the end of World War II and that era is well documented at the library.

After the library's opening in 1957, Truman maintained an office here, often answering the phone and providing directions and information to callers who were stunned to hear the president on the other end of the line.  History was made at the library in 1964 when President Lyndon Johnson signed the Medicare Act and presented the first two Medicare cards to the former president and his wife Bess.

Truman and his wife are both buried here.
