One of the first stops to celebrate Anna's graduation was Kansas City, Missouri, and a visit to Arthur Bryant's, one of the most famous barbecue restaurants in the United States. Most of the free world was introduced to Arthur Bryant's back in 1972 when well known New Yorker food critic Calvin Trillin declared that he had eaten at the "single best restaurant in the world". From the opening of Arthur Bryant's in 1940 to today, the restuarant has maintained a philosophy of serving its barbecue in an unpretentious setting. Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Harry Truman have all noshed at the formica tables of Arthur Bryant's.
