Kansas City is home to Hallmark Cards, the largest manufacturer of greeting cards in the United States.   Hallmark products are sold in more than 40,000 retail stores nationwide and in 100 countries.

The company was started by a young entrepreneur named Joyce Clyde Hall, who stepped off a train in Kansas City with a shoe box full of picture postcards for sale.

The company began selling Valentine's and Christmas cards and expanded to everyday greeting cards because of the popularity.  Hall and his brother Rollie developed modern day wrapping paper when they ran out of traditional colored tissue paper.

Hallmark Fun Fact:  A subsidiary of the company makes Crayola crayons.

Dr Pepper Fun Fact:  Available for purchase at amazon.com are Dr Pepper flavored lip gloss and nail polish with a cherry Dr Pepper scent.
