The capital of Missouri is Jefferson City, located halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis. The State Capitol at left is perched atop a buff overlooking the Missouri River. It was completed in 1917.
Named for President Thomas Jefferson, the capital city of 43,000 on the Missouri River was named as "America's Most Beautiful Small Town" in 2013.
